ESTABLISHED UNDER PUBLIC ACT 24 OF 1989 (MICHIGAN), THE RIVER RAPIDS DISTRICT LIBRARY OFFICIALLY CAME INTO EXISTENCE ON MARCH 9, 2011. ITS PREDECESSOR WAS THE CHESANING PUBLIC LIBRARY.
The River Rapids District Library is located at 227 E. Broad St., Chesaning, MI. The River Rapids District Library provides free services to all residents living within the Chesaning township and village boundaries. We are a member of the White Pine Library Cooperative. Non-residents may purchase a card.
As of October 1, 2021 our library has 24,114 items available for check out. This includes books for all ages, DVD's for children and adults, audio books, periodicals, mobile hot spots and laptops. We also can borrow books from over 430 other libraries and provide access to 24/7 eBooks and eAudio books.
We also offer printing, scanning, faxing and laminating for a reasonable cost. The public is also welcome to access the Internet through the library’s fiber-optic connection through our state-of-the-art Wi-fi service
We schedule computer and Internet training, special library exhibits and many other events for children and adults.

This is a district library governed by a seven-member elected Board of Trustees who meet the 3rd Wednesday of each month (except July and December) at 6:00 pm. All meetings are open to the public.
